A Beautiful Mind (2001)
with Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly
Winner of four Oscars. When Nash and others try to cure the disease of schizophrenia by using medications and shock treatments, his “genius” is also destroyed. Instead, he learns to let the delusions live and just let them be – not entertain them but not try to get rid of them either. He accepted the good in them, “letting go” of the ways they caused his illness. A wonderful film about the delicate and necessary tension between acceptance and resistance.
