Ghandi (1982)
with Ben Kingsley, John Gielgud, Candice Bergen
Winner of 8 Oscars. Again and Again, Ghandi uses boldness to move his ideas and his people toward freedom. Through his patience and his boldness, he is able to drive the British out of the subcontinent. There are wonderful portrayals of many famous figures throughout the movie. It’s both moving and immensely watchable as he fights without violence for the highest ideals.

Glory (1989)
with Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes
Winner of 3 Oscars. Robert Gould Shaw leads the U.S. Civil War’s first all-black volunteer company, fighting prejudices from both his own Union Army and the Confederates. His boldness for doing something that had never been done before was rewarded with loyalty and allegiance never before seen in race relations.
