Challenges of Meditation

Winter is an acceptable time for reflection, which can be done in many ways. At Neighbourhood, we try to use quiet and thoughtful reflection in all spiritual practices. This is a challenge in a culture that frantically tries to celebrate the season through consumption. Join us as we use “spiritual practices” to calm our inward stress.

Meditation in December provides the challenge of sitting quietly, and breathing through the quiet evening as the culture revs up.

Evening Meditation: Guided meditation for Beginners and Intermediates, using different techniques from the world’s religions.
Weekly on Wednesday, 7:30-8:30 pm

Way of the Heart: Introduction to classical Sufism using chant, meditation and movement to deepen our inner life.
Monthly on first Thursday, 7:30-9:30 pm

Spiritual Direction: Spiritual reflection with an experienced guide, to help us learn what we cannot always see for ourselves.
By appointment. Call Neighbourhood Office at 416-686-6809.

Meditation in Motion: Having a regular practice of movement-as-meditation enhances our lives by helping us heal, and by connecting mind, body and spirit. Walk, sway or dance. Relax with live meditative music. Create your own inner and outer balance.
