My community of religious educators has an ongoing conversation about “Full Week Faith”: how can faith and spirituality be practiced everyday of the week in households? Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Eid al-Adha, Yule, Kwanzaa, or not much at all, there is a still moment somewhere within the festivities when quiet can be found. Perhaps in the moment before eating you offer the universe a silent moment of thanks; perhaps in the minutes before sleep you share quietness with your children.

Take that moment, however fleeting and challenging, to find your inner quietness in this time of chaos. Practice this regularly, and soon, it won’t be so much of a challenge and will become something you yearn for in the soft moments. You’ll be glad you did.
